Originally built in 1926 as the John P. St. John Memorial High School, the Millcreek Learning Campus was comprised of three individual buildings. A new central addition connects the buildings to create a cohesive, multi-generational learning campus. The existing structures were completely renovated to accommodate brain-based instruction and learning. The existing annex building was re-clad with a terra cotta rain screen to improve energy efficiency and to unify the campus aesthetic.
The renovated facility houses the Olathe Public Schools community outreach and alternative learning programs. Flexible learning environments and specialized spaces allow learners of all ages to thrive in this unique facility. The youngest visitors utilize the new parents as Teachers program hub for playgroups and child development support. Middle and high school students with special circumstances are afforded the opportunity to stay on track academically in a smaller, more individually tailored school setting. Adult education classroom and meeting spaces offer community members the opportunity to expand their career opportunities. District-wide professional development and other centralized resources like the Olathe Public Schools foundation are also housed at the Millcreek Learning Campus.
