Powered by The Barstow School, The Dan & Cassidy Towriss IDEA Space KC is a community resource open to all of Kansas City, where K-12 students engage in hands-on experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) through after-school programs, summer camps, school and non-profit partnerships.
IDEA Space is a creative and collaborative workspace where hands-on teaching cultivates entrepreneurs, and experiential learning creates participants, not spectators. The repurposed grocery store is a STEAM learning space with a fully equipped technology lab, fabrication workshop and makerspace. In the technology lab students will experience robotics, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, coding, augmented and virtual reality and data analytics. The fabrication workshop focuses on advanced manufacturing, skilled trades, welding, metalworking, woodworking and electronics. The makerspace allows students to explore digital fabrication, prototyping, design thinking, engineering, architecture and textiles.
