Designed and constructed in just 15 months, the new Blue Springs South High School Freshman Wing accommodates the return of over 500 freshmen back to campus after nearly 20 years of being housed remotely at the district freshman center. The building expansion provides new academic and gathering spaces for the entire Blue Springs South High School student body and serves to promote connections between freshmen and upperclassmen.
The school’s jaguar mascot and bold colors welcome students and visitors alike as they enter the new primary building entry. With its grand learning stair, generous daylight, and varied seating options, the new school commons provides a central location for all students to gather, study, and connect as a school community throughout each day. The new academic wing provides collaborative learning areas and small group breakout spaces adjacent to the new classrooms and labs. Daylight is provided through clerestory windows and by way of two-story light shafts which reinforce the connections between all students with bold graphics and school pride.
