The construction of the new Blue Springs High School Library Media Center completes the campus master plan to enclose the school’s central court yard providing physical and figurative connections. The building provides an internal link between north and south campus buildings. The new second story collaboration spaces and computer lab instructional areas create a canopy that defines a new campus hub for student gathering at the site of prior campus oak trees.
The new library offers students access to traditional media volumes as well as access to digital information, collaborative work spaces, meeting areas, and independent study nooks. A new makerspace provides opportunities for hands-on learning, video and audio production capabilities, and large group instruction.
The design of the library is column free to maintain complete flexibility for future changes in design of the stack arrangement and student work areas as well as the accommodation of large group meetings. All of the furnishings were selected to be easily re-configurable, with all stacks and study tables being equipped with casters.
